The Historical norm...

Some ask why we ever study history? Who really cares what happened before this moment anyway....it's nothing more than a story to amuse us about people and events long gone. But recently I am convinced more than ever that history is perhaps the most important thing for us to pay attention to because as cliche as it is...it does repeat itself. History gives us a an understanding of how humans dealt with the best and worst that life threw at them. Our nature is not so different from that of our predecessors and that is exactly how we have learnt. Those who pay the closest attention to history are those who are able to make the best decisions because they are the most aware of possible outcomes based on experience and knowledge of history. Humans have generally predictable responses to certain things....Although nothing is etched in stone....There are things that you can pretty much count on happening when you decide upon a certain path. So next time you think that you are different and somehow exempt from the natural order of things....think again. The likelihood of you being right is pretty much unlikely by historical standards. With that said....if you ARE right....you may be onto something wonderful and fulfilling that only a few have ever been able to grasp!
